Overview
Locus is an intelligent retail companion designed to bridge the gap between physical navigation and digital decision-making. By integrating spatial wayfinding with personalized intent analysis, Locus transforms the chaotic experience of large-scale retail into a curated, user-centric journey.
The Challenge
Modern retail environments often suffer from two distinct points of friction: physical disorientation (getting lost in the mall) and "choice paralysis" (being overwhelmed by technical product options). Shoppers needed a tool that not only helped them find their way but also helped them find the right product.
The Solution
I designed a mobile interface that utilizes a multi-axis navigation system for intuitive browsing and a data-driven comparison engine to support purchasing decisions.
Key Features
- Multi-Axis Wayfinding: An interactive map system where users scroll vertically to traverse floors and horizontally to explore categories (Dining, Fashion, Furniture), reducing cognitive load during navigation.
- Intent-Based Onboarding: A smart quiz module that captures user goals upon entry, generating a tailored itinerary of store recommendations that aligns with the user's specific visit purpose.
- Transparent Decision Support: A high-fidelity comparison tool—piloted for electronics—that allows users to view side-by-side pricing and technical specifications for speakers, empowering confident, informed purchases.
